Consents & Waivers

At The Frankie & Pippa's, your dog is important and our mission is to provide your dog with a positive grooming experience.

Health & Temperament: I confirm that my dog is fit, healthy (or medical information provided), fully vaccinated, de-flea and wormed. I understand with all grooming procedures there is an element of risk involved and can be stressful to some dogs.

Occasionally, grooming can expose a hidden medical problem or aggravate a current condition. This can occur during or after grooming.

Behavioural issues must be honestly disclosed prior to grooming. Failure to do so may result in extra charges if extra time is required to complete a groom. Frankie & Pippa's reserve the right to terminate a groom should the dog be too fearful or stressed or the dog poses a risk to itself or the groomer.

I will inform Frankie & Pippa's of any changes to the dog's behaviour or medical conditions.

Emergencies: All dogs are groomed at owner's risk. Accidents are rare but in the event of an emergency, I consent to Frankie & Pippa's obtaining veterinary treatment for my dog from their veterinary practice at my expense.

I understand that all attempts will be made to contact me in the event of an emergency.

Coat & Skin Condition: I understand that Frankie & Pippa's puts my dog's comfort above all else. In the event that my dog's coat is matted, I understand that the groomer may have to shave the matts out rather than perform a painful dematting procedure. I also understand that if my dog is severely matted and requires large areas of shave down, that there is an increased risk for clipper burn or cuts.

I understand that all attempts will be made to prevent this, however in extreme matt conditions, this may prove unavoidable.

Small areas of minimal matting can be dematted, for a maximum of 15 mins, on dogs that are comfortable and can tolerate the procedure. This will be at Frankie & Pippa's discretion on whether your dog can tolerate the dematting procedure.

I also understand that a matted dog takes additional time to groom so there will be an additional fee added onto the regular grooming price if my dog's coat is matted. I agree that Frankie & Pippa's will not be held responsible for irritation, abrasion, patchiness, or hair loss due to any pre-existing skin conditions or as a result of the process of grooming, de-matting, thinning, stripping or clipping.

Teeth Cleaning: Teeth cleaning will be carried out using an ultrasonic toothbrush. A teeth and gum health assessment will be carried out prior to any cleaning taking place. All teeth cleaning is an additional cost.

Dogs may require multiple sessions to remove build up and success of the treatment can be reliant upon many factors such as previous dental history.

Hand Stripping: This method is common in the Terrier and Gun dog breeds and maintains the colour and texture of the coat. Hand stripping should be done on a 2-12 weekly basis but will depend on the suitability of the coat, temperament, and condition of the dog. Commonly, neutered dogs may not be suitable for hand stripping as changes in hormones can affect the coat's regrowth of colour and texture, making it uncomfortable to strip for some dogs. If the dog shows signs of discomfort or distress, hand stripping will be stopped and we will suggest a different technique for your dog. Please be aware that clipping will change the texture of the coat and may not be possible to hand strip the dog after that. Hand stripping is undertaken fully at the owners risk and Frankie & Pippas will not be held responsible for irritation or patchiness as a result of hand stripping or as a result of pre-existing skin conditions. Stripping will take longer than clipping so will be more expensive and please be aware that if the coat is really thick or hard to pull out, there may be an additional charge.

Cancellation / No Show: Appointment reminders will be issued 48 hours before you are due. I understand that if I need to change my appointment time or cancel it, that I must give at least 24 hours' notice so that the appointment time can be made available to another client.

Matting and Agressive Behaviours; I understand that matting and agressive behaviours will incur extra charges and that should any agressive behaviours occur then Frankie & Pippa's reserve the right to stop any treatments.
